Your chicks are the healthiest, bright eyed, cleanest, and sturdiest chicks I have ever received in the mail in over 30 years of ordering. They are alert, smart, good eaters, and demanding that I keep picking them up. Thank you very much! They are worth every penny . . .

Chicks for mail order need to be in multiples of 25. This ensures sufficient body heat for the chicks to survive their journey. Feel free to mix and match smaller quantities of the different breeds. But, the total number of chicks ordered must equal 25, 50, 75, or 100. All of our chicks are vaccinated against Marek's disease to ensure they get a good start in life. We do not charge extra for this service like other hatcheries do.
Shipping and handling is $45.50 for each batch of 25 chicks. This is more than other hatcheries charge and that is because we only ship via Express Mail which is the fastest service the U.S. Post Office offers and Express Mail is trackable. Other hatcheries ship via Priority Mail which is slower and is not trackable. You will be contacted via phone with a tracking number when your chicks ship. Other hatcheries do not offer this level of customer service and protection for chicks.
Chicks are shipped weekly on Tuesdays via USPS Express Mail. Unfortunately, we cannot provide estimates as to when your chicks will ship. All orders will be filled in the order they are received. You will be contacted via phone when your chicks ship. That will give you 24-48 hours notice. If you have any "black out" dates, indicate them in the "Notes" section during check out and we will not ship your order those weeks.
Ameraucana chick orders will contain both Blue and Black color varieties. Marans chick orders will contain both Black Copper and Blue Copper color varieties. We are not set up to sell only one color variety at this time. If you have a color preference, specify it in the "Notes" section during check out. We will do our best to try and accomodate your preference.
Breeders pick is exactly that. Chicks from any of the four breeds we raise that are left over after filling all breed-specific orders. When filling Breeders Pick orders, I try to mix up the breeds to give variety, but some weeks, I may only have one or two breeds available. You may get only one breed, you may get all four breeds. If you place an order for several different breeds, I highly recommend you include a few Breeders Pick chicks. Not only will it save you money, but it will allow me to get your order out sooner. Often I may be short one or two chicks from one breed to complete an order. If I have the flexibility to substitute with a Breeders Pick chick, then your order goes out that week. We cannot accommodate breed preferences for Breeders Pick chicks. If you want to be sure to get certain breeds, you should order breed-specific chicks.
All chicks are sold straight run. Statistically, you should get approximately 50% males and 50% females. The larger your order, the closer you will get to this 50/50 split. Much like flipping a coin, you have a 50/50 chance of getting heads or tails but if you flip a coin 6 times, you may or may not get heads 3 of those times . . .
If you are paying with PayPal, please confirm that your telephone number and address registered on your PayPal account is current. This is the phone number and address that will automatically be associated with your order. If it is not current, the U.S. Post Office will not be able to call you when your chicks arrive. And, I will not be able to contact you. It won't end well for the chicks. You will get an email confirmation after you place your order. Please look at the address and phone number on your order to confirm that it is correct. Thank you!
The chicks I got last August have matured beautifully. They are vigorous, healthy, calm, and the friendliest chickens I've ever seen, and their eggs are gorgeous! Some of my friends have Welsummers that they got from commercial hatcheries, and my girls glowing dark brown eggs put theirs to shame. I must also say that the Ameraucana hens are giving me aqua blue eggs that are driving everyone else crazy, either with desire to buy them, or because their Ameraucanas can't compare.-Janice Lee, Lansdale, PA
